Hi Colm,

That's an ingenious bit of SQL! I like the fact that it's contained in a
single prepared statement which boosts performance. I agree that it
could get ugly quickly.

For now, I'm going with Perrin's suggestion of using DBI directly. This
affords me the ability to be lazy and use SQL::Abstract to generate the
where clause and bind values.
