Yes. No.

Class::DBI is already overriding the default transform_sql from
Ima::DBI.

Overriding it in your own application is entirely sensible.

Generally I override it to create my own SQL extensions. When I need to
create different 'views', as you're suggesting, I tend to just override
the SearchSQL, but overriding transform_sql could also work if you need
to operate at a wider level than that.
