I have a long-running script that populates MySQL using Class::DBI::mysql.
Sometimes, mysqld is unavailable. ie. it goes down for about an hour
every night.
What is the recommended way to detect that mysqld is unavailable,
blocking whatever sql query got so unlucky until mysqld comes back?
TIA,
ilia.
