So why in the world do you get those targets?
I think we don't list all Makefile.PL options here:

MP_APR_LIB => aprext
MP_APXS => /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
MP_COMPAT_1X => 1
MP_GENERATE_XS => 1
MP_LIBNAME => mod_perl
MP_USE_DSO => 1
did you pass a PREFIX option? Or did you use CPAN.pm or CPANPLUS.pm to
build it? that /var/tmp looks more like an rpm package build.
