Have you tried it? May be it just works? FWIW, Enrico Weigelt who wrote it 
seems to advertise it in the recent posts to httpd-dev:

May be it's time that Enrico tries to get it integrated within the core. 
I've CC'ed Enrico in hope that he can explain himself what's the real status.
