Hi,
Re the flashing light idea: I know someone who uses one on his Morris J
type 10cwt van (about 1958) when travelling on motorways. Also he has a
magnetic [SLOW VEHICLE] sign for the back doors too, inthe same style as
the HGV LONG VEHICLE signs. (I know the mag mount wouldn't work on a Land
Rover!) As a typical Morris J would have a cruising speed in the 40's it's
probably not a bad idea. I'll wait to see what my part restored J feels
like, speed and comfort wise to decide on that idea. As far as the Land
Rovers go, I tend to get a bit wary when the speed drops below 50 on a busy
motorway, but could just manage 55 with the knackered 2 1/4 diesel in the
86" when empty (Had it down in the 30's towing a load of machinery on a
flat bed trailer once, but that was in the dead of night with no one about)
and the Transit powered 107 can normally trundle at 60 with no OD so not
too worried really... I do tend to use a beacon these days when towing
anything thats likely to slow me down or reduce the stopping distance.
Matter of how comfortable you feel really....
cheers
