Jeremy,
I've driven the Toronto to Vancouver run many times both across Canada
and via various US routes "commuting" between Hamilton and San
Francisco. As some travel advice, there's not much difference between
the routes except southern Manitoba is much flatter than North Dakota.
The biggest difference is it's a bit quicker to head through Windsor to
Minneapolis rather than via Sudbury on the transCanada. The speed limit
may be faster in Montana (none), but the police have M16's in their gun
racks :) If you're not really squeezed for time head into Calgary via
Saskatoon to bring you through Drumheller and stop at the "Dinosaur"
museum in the badlands. The area and museum are worth a bit of a detour
if you're going through the province.
