I have seen this in an old Rover catalogue that I no longer have. It was
a metal cased unit (rectangular with half the end sloping) which clipped
on the handrail and had an aerial very similar to the then current
military ones! - A socking great rubber insulator and a ? two piece
tubular aerial to plug into it. Speaker and power supply for the valves
were integrated in the unit.

On occasion I have seen similar units at autojumbles but very rarely.
Pye was one of the main makers of radios in the UK in the 50s/60s and is
a very likely candidate for the manufacturer.

Hi Jon,
I have been interested and tried also to contact members of vintage
radio
clubs in the UK , but without any result.
Still interested , though ( and , apparently, it was a Pye )

Oggetto: SER1 PYE radio

Hi all

A couple of months back there was some discussion about the optional
radio fitted to series ones. Browsing through the Misc options in my
parts book i noticed it again. At the time this was thought to be a
PYE. Did anyone find out any further details or pictures.

Jon
