I am not sure whether this is the same conversion that I have on a 1953 80" ,
installed by a previous owner, but I would confirm that it certainly improves
the steering.  There are one or two things to consider.  You can no longer use
the central horn /dipswitch, but on the other hand you could sell that and cover
some of your costs.  The column is a bit longer so there is not quite the same
room behind the wheel for larger drivers.  I have heard that some insurance
companies consider it a modification and view it with disfavour.
