Hi Peter,
This was my number around 1992/3  for more than 5 years. It was on one of my 
  business cars, an OPEL Omega Caravan. In 1998 my company moved from 
Düsseldorf to another city and so I have to change the registrations with 
the new city´s initials. The number went back to the Düsseldorf registration 
office where they have to keep it for minimum 2years before they can bring 
them into traffic again.  It´s also an old numberplate, minimum around 
10years , because nowadays we have the Euro-numberplates with the blue part 
at the left end.
