I guess it is probably worth the trouble to remove the 2 litre one and
compare the two.  I know that the carby is jetted for the 2litre - with and
the later camshaft, do you think the engine will remember that it's only
1.6litre?

Just to confuse things a bit, a different part number doesn't
necessarily mean that it isn't the same (or compatible).  Rover
sometimes supercedes identical function parts with different numbers.
