Just a thought on the subject of renewing the fuel tanks on a Series 1.
When I needed a new one for Fido (SXF870) they were rare as an honest
politician.  Ser 3 military tanks, on the other hand, were currently in good
supply (from Blanchard's, I think).  But although they LOOK the same, the
slope of the front is very slightly different, and the military one fouls
the inside of the seat box.  The only way I could get it in was to drop the
whole tank an inch with spacers and longer bolts.  Beware!
