RE: SER1 Petrol tanks revisited/Steel body panels

After spending some time going around the scrap yards in Cyprus again
this year, I too came across a Series One with a steel wing. I expect it
was manufactured locally, to replace a damaged item, but it was very
well made, and the only way I would have known it was steel was due to a
small patch of light rust on it.
