Dear Cloggy

That's correct the length of the Front road springs on SWB Land Rovers =
1951 thru Series 3 are the same and similarly the length of the Rear =
road springs on SWB Land Rovers 1954 thru Series 3. Some models had 10 =
leaves and some 11 (e.g. Petrol V's Diesel Series II) there is also a =
difference between drivers and passenger side.

10 leaves will give a softer ride but will bottom out earlier under =
load. So yes you can buy a series 3 set of springs for your 1956 86". =
Just be sure to get a matched pair.=20

All that's as clear as mud?

Welcome to the Series One List.

Subject: SER1 My 1956 LR

Hello all,

Just a quick introduction. I am Pierre (Cloggy) from Wainuiomata in New =
Zealand. I have just bought a 1956 86" Series 1 in need of some TLC. No =
doubt this mailing list will provide me with a wealth of good tips, =
hints and helpful advice. I look forward to participating and =
contributing.
One of the many items on the shopping list are springs as the leafs are =
beyond repair. On one of the commercial websites I saw some springs =
listed for the Series 1 with a note to say suitable for LR up to 1984. =
Is this true? Are the "11-leaf" springs common to all the Series 1, 2 =
and 3?

Thanks
Cloggy
