Again not relevant but The Army also had some 4x2's but I have no idea
why....
My second Land Rover in 1966 was an ex-army 1958 4x2 Series One. I bought it
at the Ministry auctions, Ruddington near Nottingham. I registered mine and
was given a new number, a "D" reg. It did not require an MOT in those days
for the first five years. This may explain why the number on this V8 is "A"
reg having been de-mobbed in 1963.
A few Series Two 4x2 were also produced. My first Land Rover before I left
school was an ex Mersey Tunnel Police 80". I wish I still had that one
because as far as I know non now exist except in "Dinky Toy" form.
Cheers
Martin
