SER1 A co-incidence?

I subbed to the S1 List yesterday.

Today I got the following, unsolicitated,  from  <no2id-supporters-request@xxxxx.xxx> 

I have never been automatically subbed to any '3rd-party'List as a result of joining one. 

Are the two events related, or have I just been very lucky up to now?
