Riaan, when you refurbished your pedal and shafts did you use genuine pins
in the shaft/tube connections? I found the pins almost worn through on my 58
ser. I and replaced them with hardware store items. They lasted two days and
sheared. Luckily my order arrived with two new Land Rover pins and I
installed them. The original pins must be hardened. Cheers, Mark

The pedal and shafts are fine. They were recently refurbished.

  Hi Riaan,

Are you sure the problem is inside the bellhousing ? I would have thought
the spring would return the clutch pedal itself, unless it's somehow jammed
up.

I had the clutch to go to the floor a few months ago, it goes without
saying that I was a) at traffic lights in the centre of a town and b) towing
a heavy trailer.

However, it was the clutch lever that had worn through after 48 years, it
had gone at the part where it holds the adjustable operating arm to the
bellhousing, i.e. just under the cross-shaft.

Managed to start the car in gear in low range and move to the side of the
road, where a mole-grip was applied to the lever which permitted a few
gearchanges so got me home ! Of course once you're moving it's not too hard
to change gear without the clutch, it's when you have to stop that you have
problems !

  Regards to all,

  Anthony
    I depressed the clutch
when suddenly the clutch lever went down and did not come up again.
Something inside the bell housing let go and there is now no resistance,
nor
    does the clutch engage.
