Hi Uli,

I expect the Series One club will already have an organising committee
arranged to get things up and running for the 60th Anniversary, what I was
thinking was organising a get together for Garage members at the event so we
could meet up with each other, and maybe have some sort of presence there,
in the form of a display or stand, to let other people know of the Garage's
existence. Selling things like t-shirts and the like would be a good idea
though, and maybe the mugs that we talked about some time ago.

The 50th Anniversary event was held at Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire,
and is the home of Lord Lichfield (famous Royal photographer). It was a
fantastic event and must have taken a great deal of organising. There were
around 450 Series Ones there, and many people had travelled great distances
to take part. Some of the specialist dealers like Dunsfold were also there,
as well as some of the other Land Rover clubs. I can't remember the exact
dates, but it did not coincide with other events like Billing etc, but Land
Rover had some big displays at Billing that year, and had obviously made
some effort for the celebrations.

The sponsorship idea to help people from overseas to get there is a good
idea, I remember some Series Ones at Shugborough had sponsor decals on their
sides, including some of the cross channel ferry companies - so it might be
worth making some enquires.

I should think you would need to write to The Legend, or suggest it to the
Series One club to organise visits to Gaydon and Solihul, they may be able
to organise some sort of discounts for overseas travellers who have made
lots of effort to get there.

Cheers
