What it isn't is a 1948-49 gearbox. The '48 boxes had the gearlever attached
to the tunnel and not to the box and the '49 was what is called the "ring-pull"
box. Judging by the plate on the bell-housing and the numbers, this is a much
later re-conditioned gearbox, not I'm afraid even Series 1.
