Hi All, There was an old ad that started "They laughed when I sat down at the piano"; don't remember what it sold, but we've all had that feeling when we trundle up in our half-century old Landys. But my Landy always runs, which is more than I can say for the latest inconveniences. To wit: Sorry to say I'm posting this from Syracuse. Margaret and I were supposed to be in Newfoundland this week, but apparently Friday the Ottawa airport was shut down (accumulating Halifax-bound passengers) and Saturday the Halifax airport was similarly 'off-line' to all but a tiny handful of flights. This was the state of affairs when we arrived to board Saturday at 0600. Given that the Halifax airport is being privatized and this involves runway repairs and a change in instrumentation, the best explanation is that, since June 28, throughput at Halifax has been diminished and falls to zero whenever there is fog or low clouds ... Air Canada thought we might be able to get to Deer Lake by Tuesday with no idea whether this same mess might persist through our return Saturday, so we cancelled the vacation. Hope your week is going better. At least my Landy is still running.
