HI Everyone,
Very glad to hear George is chugging along. As everyone else, I am looking
forward to the photos and write up.
Attendance was down this year, our Canadian contingent were all preoccupied
this year understandably, and the failure of the postal service kept the
forward announcement from appearing in the Legend. Next year will be different.
We had a casual Sat, including a demo for welding aluminum. Seemed like a
useful product, done with a propane torch. Part of the off-road was a trail on
the powerline, was a bit of a challenge for the leaf spring crowd. Peter
Miler's 109 PU on street, biased ply tires was driven by Jeff Wilson somewhere
I would have never attempted. Amazing.
I was the only casualty ( I think), the generator packed it in on Sunday
going to breakfast the back way. Got a replacement, need the time to install.
Weather on Sat was a bit warm, but definitely dry.
Interesting to hear about the XZL's. I have some 7.50's and they are quite
heavy. About 10 lbs ea more than the O.E. tire on my RR. When mounted on
Wolf wheels ( also very heavy) they are 20 lbs heavier than stock. Presumably
they don't appear to sapping the power from the engine while trying to turn
them. Good to know the 2.0 can handle it. The XZL's are fairly quiet and my
brief trial on the road shows decent manners too.
