I agree. At the time, filed US copyrights ran for 26 years initially
with one 26 year extension. This would preclude anything written
prior to 1953 as copyright protected. Land Rover has traditionally
been supportive of the use of copyrighted materials by clubs and
organizations as long as the trademark is not defamed and proper
ownership credits are given. After all, it continues the "legend".
Today of course filings are no longer required and all works by an
author are copyrighted perpetually as soon as they are written.
The general rule is, if you didn't write or create it, it belongs to
someone else.
