Hi Lyndon, money speaks wonders - what about us offering a refundable deposit to MBI. We in effect are placing a firm order for some quantity of the book. Pre-selling the publication before it is even printed may convince MBI to proceed. My thoughts! Karen, I hope I am not working at cross purposes to you - I had e-mailed James Taylor before I learned that you had also contacted him. Aside from asking if he would support a re-print I had asked if he would insert a note into a future issue of LRe to establish levels of interest in a reprint: I had volunteered myself as a contact point to collate the information and pass on to Karen. (Hope I wasn't being presumptuous!) If anyone has any suggestions as to appropriate wording for the note please drop me a line! Lyndon LWortley@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx -----Original Message----- From: James Taylor [mailto:j.taylor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx] Sent: 25 October 2005 11:33 To: Lyndon Wortley Subject: Original Series I Dear Lyndon, Many thanks for your e-mail on this subject. It has been a major source of annoyance to me that MBI have so far not re-published "Original Series I". I know, as you do, that there is a big demand for it and that a limited reprint would be a good investment for the publishing company. I would of course support any attempt to get the book re-published. I'm sure you will understand that I would lay claim to the usual royalties (I think these are 10% of cover price by MBI's last reckoning), but apart from that I would not put any stipulations on the deal. As a suggestion, re-printing with a soft cover would save costs; the book would not feel as substantial as the hard-bound version, but it might make the difference between the viability and non-viability of a re-print! If the project goes ahead in some form, we could also look at including an Appendix of revisions, corrections, etc. I hope there aren't too many, but I'd rather that the book was as complete as it can possibly be! I can certainly put a note into an upcoming issue of LRe, and I'd be grateful for a suggestion from you about the form of words. Please keep me informed of progress on this project. It has my full support. With kind regards James Taylor Editor LAND ROVER enthusiast To change subscription see www.landrover.net/series1/mail To change subscription see www.landrover.net/series1/mail
