I take it your R&R was in the 1960's or early 1970's - I believe that you
could have chosen another destination.  But I hope you enjoyed the R&R, it
was certainly an interesting time in Sydney and particularly Kings Cross.

During that particular conflict my uncle was the Doctor on the DDG, HMAS
Hobart when your lot sent a couple of sparrow missiles into her.  3 sailors
died, the only consolation was that at the time the Hobart was the only ship
in (or attached to) the US 7th fleet that actually had a surgeon on board.
The bad thing was when the ship left the war zone for refit. my uncle was
sent to Da Nang, so while the rest of the crew was having their R&R in Subic
Bay, Graham was working in a US Military Hospital.
