There is a legal document this side of the pond called a liability waiver which can be signed between the parties to absolve the seller of liabilty for the goods. I don't understand why this hasn't been done. If it can work out in California where I live it can work anywhere in the US, because we have probably the highest number of lawyers per capita in the US (nothing to boast about IMHO). But then I'm merely an engineer, not a lawyer.
