Keith

Now this is going to confuse you. According to a Lucas "Popular =
Selected Spare Parts" Catalogue covering the Late 1940's and 1950's the =
cap for the 1952 and 1953 Land Rover should be LU 415298, this cap is =
the same cap as the Ferguson TE20 tractor (old Grey Fergy) and has the =
leads coming out vertically). =20

The same catalogue lists the cap for the 1948 to 1950 Land Rover as LU =
415707 which has the leads exiting horizontally. The good news is that =
the Land Rover Parts Catalogue 1948 - 1953 lists the distributor cap for =
both the 1.6 litre and 2 litre engines in the 80" as Part Number R =
261240 (where "R" represents Rover) this means that the cap with the =
horizontal leads that will fit your distributor is the LU 415707. =
Unfortunately I can not identify your 3 digit part number.

I can tell you the cap is not the same as the cap that should fit the =
1955 - 1958 2 litre engines which is LU 418871 or R 245004.

Cheers
Diana
