Hi from Sydney,
Iain,
Check the longitudinal arm assembly from the steering box to relay box. It's
possible that a locking clamp ring has loosened and the clamps are rotating
so that the bolts are sometimes contacting the battery box support rather
than clearing it and so limiting travel. As it also moves sideways slightly
above the chassis rail at the front end make sure the arm and ball joints
clear the brake pipe. Occasionally the upper relay lever pinch bolt fouls
also. Check if the steering drop arm is contacting the firewall when it is
at full lock - it should just clear rather than touching so if it does touch
you will have to reposition it on the rocker shaft. Can't think of anything
else at the moment, setting it up is in the workshop manual.
