The problem is state maintenance.  You have to either repeat the query
on each hit, or do the query once and stash it somewhere.  For *working
code* (as you keep screaming for) that does the latter, see one of my
very first magazine articles:

If that doesn't make sense, you need to *hire* a programmer.  You're
bordering on whining because you can't just copy and paste.  That
makes you not a programmer, in my mind.
