cool.  let me know how it goes with the Apache::Template port as well - I've
gotten no feedback whatsoever on it (after lots of people asking where it was :)

yeah, that could be.  I haven't played around with libapreq2 in depth yet,
but the API is very different in lots of places, so I wouldn't be surprised
if the calls are indeed different here.
