	Breaks horribly using Sybase :(

	Simon, maybe your best bet is to just use set_sql. If that statement
never changes, you can just call your set SQL with ->single_val. The only
thing is, it will require you to call retrieve with that set_sql->single_val
call as an argument. Which by even perl's standards, is really ugly.
