columns ?

I can use columns to create my own grouping and then use them ,,,

Blah->columns( display => qw/x a z  c v/);

and later :

@my_display_columns = Blah->columns('display');

and this doesnt affect the cdbi behaviour in any other way... i just want to
store column 'names' for different purposes ?
m'I right ? if yes , will it fallback to 'All', if i havent specified the naming in advance ?
