I havent used Autosparks as I built my own loom but they have been in the
business for a good while and as Tom says, they have a good press. Also, diy
requires a lot of planning and work, never mind getting all of the bits
together.
Despite this I decided to build my own as it gave me the opportunity to
incorporate additional wiring functons such as a trailer socket, hazard warning
lights, maplight, radio, electric screen washer, wiring for temp guage and oil
pressure guage and and a second fuse.
I found the best way to do this was redraw the original wiring diagram to
incorporate the extras so I knew what additional connecters and wiring was
required. Then I made a mock up bulkhead top with dummy instrument panel and
location of wiper sockets and position of the fuel pump, fuse boxes and vcr so I
could get the correct wiring going through the required holes in the bulkhead.
It all worked very well and I am pleased with the result ,which has
functioned trouble free ( except for the flasher cans which seem to have a short
shelf life) for 5 years now.
Oh, in case you're wondering how I managed to get two fuses - I used a fuse
box from a Mini.
