the picture shows the correct tail lamp for a 1955-58 (with chrome ring) - note that this is the year of manufacture not the year of registration. i think lu153393a is correct. i actually fitted lu 526436 which comes without the backplate and has the non reflector type lens.
i dont know about the reflector type lens option but perhaps someone will enlighten us.
lu153393a crop up every couple of weeks on e-bay for around 60gbp/pair. the lamps with the flat bottom are for 1954 and earlier....i think
regards david.

Hi David thanks for your reply.

Thanks for that, I've had a look at the picture, and it shows round
lights with a chrome ring. Is that correct? My parts book shows a unit
with a flat underside. It does however list several different rear
lamps. Is the round unit shown a LU153393A? And can I confirm that's
appropriate for a 1955 86" for the British market? Sorry to question
your answer, but the choice of rear lights has somewhat confused me.

Next question is where to get them, or am I talking hens' teeth
territory?

That sounds ideal. I am intending to use the S1 dash mounted switch to
make one brake light flash. I'm just a little confused about how to
wire in trailer indicators, but Google has found me some things called
"Booster Relays" which bleep (rings a bell as a requirement) which I
shall investigate.

I think it's from a Series 2/3. It looked just like the one that came
off. It came with a few extra mounting tabs, which I've cut off before
fitting.

Thanks for your help.
