Hi Tom,

If I remember correctly, Rover listed the Series I's official 'top speed'
at 52 mi/hr.

I am referring to the owners handbook in the "breaking in" section they list
top gear road speeds at 30mph at 2000rpm and 46mph
at 3000 rpm . that would lead to a (theoretical ) top speed of around 60mph
, if 4000rpm can be attained.
Add to that 11% gearing increase from the 7.50's and Youre almost there( a
tailwind helps)

Anyways, Iam not trying to turn this into a pissing contest, most of the
time I like bumbling around at about 45mph myself.
I know what You mean, I was honked at by a impatient commuter this morning
for waiting that nanosecond too long at a tee intersection. I call them the
mad lemmings..

I just thought I'd share one of my "performance improvements" with You.

I am planning my trip to Petersham to hopefully avoid any of the
"racetracks" and take place on secondary roads.
