I think they even painted the driver at times, such was safety and the use
of personal protective equipment.

    These limestone painted NOS doortops are interesting as the factory
finish for these was galvanised, ie. not painted at all. So where have
these come from?
    On the topic of the Army and painting, most if not all of the
Australian army's II and IIA vehicles left the factory in shiny bronze
green and were repainted in a matt olive drab colour by the Army.
Sometimes they even masked off the window glass and headlight glasses
when they painted them. Other than that, everything was painted olive
drab, door rubbers galvanised bits, the lot.
