I imagine it is good the be certain you have the correct lamp output for function intended, but does anyone remove each and every bulb to be sure it is correct? In the USA, there is some overlap in bulbs for size and output. Can sort of imagine the same other places. I had two go out on the VW this week, one was a bit odd looking but a standard #97 went in the hole so as long as it works.......something about $.40 my cost vs $2.00 at the dealer for the official one. And most of you will be pleased to learn this as I was. While at the Motor Museum at Beaulieu I noted the catch trays, even under the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Later, we met up with a chap in the little town when he pulled up in a 1925 Bentley. He explained that the alloy castings shrink and will seep at the gaskets, but when warmed eveything expanded and tightened up, no leaks while running. Explains the Rover puddles, it was a design feature! BTW this was the documented practice car the 1925 LeMans, and I begged a ride down the road which he obliged. Quite an experience.
