Despite not knowing where Coober Pedy is, I have in fact been to Australia 3 times and know NSW & Qld to some extent, at least the Eastern area. We've been inland only as far as about Wagga Wagga to the South and Longreach to the North, never quite as far as Mt Isa ! By the way, do you happen to know whether that wonderful old train still runs between Croydon and Normanton in N. Qld ? But you're right, the younger generation in particular have little knowledge of geography (my secretary once asked me whether Switzerland was in Europe !!) or history (was Queen Victoria before or after the Romans ?), which is largely due to the teaching methods here, although that shouldn't prevent anyone becoming immersed in an atlas. And I read the other day that most of the US troops in Iraq really have no idea where on the planet they are. Our Aussie visitors often comment that there's hardly ever any Aussie news over here and very few Brits would know who your PM was, although haven't you got a cabinet minister or shadow minister who's into old Land Rovers ? Best wishes, Anthony -------------------------------1101940668 Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; charset=3DUS-ASCII"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2800.1400" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY id=3Drole_body style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: #000000; FONT-FAMILY:=20= Arial"=20 bottomMargin=3D7 leftMargin=3D7 topMargin=3D7 rightMargin=3D7><FONT id=3Drol= e_document=20 face=3DArial color=3D#000000 size=3D2> <DIV>Hi Diana,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for your reply and interesting info, sorry to hear you're down t= o=20 near 20 deg though !</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Despite not knowing where Coober Pedy is, I have in fact been to Austra= lia=20 3 times and know NSW & Qld to some extent, at least the Eastern area.
