double posted on the list. Is this phenomenon caused by the list

It's hard to say. The two messages sent by Bob Philips
<jagcat..>
sent Feb 1 are defiantly two separate submissions as the date and
time are different (18 minutes apart), as well as the message ID,
etc.
The Major attributes this to the sender's phenomena you
describe.

The two messages by Lemurstew@xxx.xxx (I don't know why AOL users
never include their real names) sent Feb 2 appear to be one message
that was sent out 10:50 EST and then returned, resubmitted, or
redirected by an automatic mailer at 7:52 PST (2 minutes later) by a
"mail pickup service" at postini.com or apci.com. The
only subscriber
with that domain is BINGHAS@xxxx.xxx. Searching the Major's
files
it appears that BINGHAS has never contributed to the SER1 list, but
has redirected 63 duplicate messages since Oct 13, 2004, most likely
unknowingly through a "feature" or misconfiguration of his
email server
(not all SER1 messages are being redirected). In any case,
BINGHAS
has been eliminated from the list (BOINK!!) and is encouraged to
review his email settings before resubscribing.

I think they make a cream ointment for that.
