Hi folks,
Nothing new to report, apart from having disassembled and cleaned the carb.
I cooked the parts in concentrated vinegar for about an hour and brushed
them with a soft wire brush. They came out pretty clean. I ordered a carb
overhaul kit from Dunfold's and if it is here in time, reassembly will take
place next weekend.
A slight draw back may be the fact that the accelerator pump fell apart when
pulling the housing open and I could not see exactly how the components are
supposed to fit together.
I am thinking of renewing at least two of the HT leads. Have not figured out
yet how the connection between coil and distributor cap is fixed. Could it
be that it is only pushed into the cap?
And the fixation of the leads at the sparking plugs' end is also a mystery.
Although the spark is there I wonder how the lead is supposed to be fixed
inside the plug. There is a little plastic washer, but the lead at least in
one plug seems to be a pretty loose fit. Certainly it shouldn't be like
that.
