Dear Simon Dewing and Jon Hutchings, Many thanks for your data (Simon) and your warning (Jon). To be honest I don't fully understand what Jon is warning for. A higher Ron number means, a far as I always understood, more difficult to ignite and less spontaneous burning (pinking). Do you mean (Jon) that burning a higher RON, you could easily advance the ignition to the point that it harms the engine, without signs of pinking? Or do I understand it wrong? In the my 1951 operations manual the setup quoted is for something like 70-80 RON fuel not modern 95 + RON .
