I think that the mileage restriction on tractors has been removed now and 
they are able to go considerable distances on red diesel.

A seperate, unrelated question:

My 1952 Fire engine is shown in the log book as 2 Litre. The engine however 
is 1600. Was there a taxation reason for this (It's the wrong way round!) or 
was it just sharp practice at Rover based on the idea that "they'll never 
drive it enough to notice!".
