Tis a long weekend here in Oz and of course our Series 1 (Disco) decided =
to die
in the engine department. Head gasket at No4 let go into the coolant =
circuit so
had a lovely compressor spraying coolant over everything via the cap.
There was something odd I noticed when I was undoing the cylinder head =
bolts....
some were not very tight and others were!.....100K ago we bought the car =
with a blown
head gasket, I pulled it down and had the head done up plus the turbo =
kitted, new injectors
etc etc....has been fine since till now.....when I installed the head I =
carefully followed the
instructions of torquing the head down then dial tensioning to the =
correct figures....it was tight
as I recall splitting the side out of a Rothenburger socket!....
I can't work out why some bolts weren't that tight?....they of course =
may have stretched....
any clues as to what happens here?
Cheers
Bruce from Bungendore......
