Morning all
I recently bought another rear mounted PTO gearbox and drive shafts
which was fitted on a series 3 Land Rover heading for the scrap heap.
The shafts are the early type with the centre bearing for the long
wheelbase which suits me as its now fitted on my 109 but the gearbox
unit I am not so sure about.
There is no serial number stamped on the casing , the bearing supports
are made from cast iron not alloy like the other unit. Apart from that
it looks the same . Has anyone any ideas when this change over to cast
supports came about all the info I have only has reference to alloy
construction.
