You are using "Rear" shocks (R242998) and not front ones (R242997) aren't
you. They can look similar and have the same eyes.

Subject: SER1 RE: Sping change,
Hi all,
I have recently changed the springs on my 58 88", I seem to be having a few
teething problems.
1. the springs that i used were series 3 ones which i got from john
craddocks(new).
2. I was told to take the bottom leaf off the front spings which i have
done(the front end sitts up beautifully)
3. the problem is at the rear, I had to jack up the springs to fit the rear
shocks , now they seem to pulling the back end down which means the shocks
are fully extended and under stress.
4 i know the obvious answer is to get bigger(longer) shock absorbers. But
every one i have spoken to have said the the series 3 are the same size as
the series 1's.
Do Land Rover do longer shocks for the newer vehicles if so are the
compatible with the series vehicles?
If anyone has had the same problem, what shocks have you used and can i get
them in the UK?
cheers
Mark
