A good way to clean engine blocks out is to use dishwasher powder. Do not
use washing up liquid as this will create a lot of bubbles in the cooling
system.
Add dishwasher powder then run the engine until it gets hot, then flush the
system wil clean water and finally add new coolant.
This seems to work well in the past.
