Alex

The front bolt on the rear springs of your 80" are NOT threaded, only =
the nut side shackle plates are threaded (which you have already done). =
If you can't get the front bolts out, a bit of heat and your biggest =
hammer may be needed. The final option is to cut the bolt between the =
hanger and the spring. Be careful not to damage the hanger if you use =
an angle grinder. You can then replace the bolt with a 9/16 UNF Hi =
Tensile bolt and nylock nut. (The original were 9/16 BSF but they are =
now difficult to get in Australia).

I assume that you are going to replace the bushes in the springs and =
chassis - you may as well if you are removing the springs.

Cheers
Diana

Hello All

=20

I am removing the rear springs from my Land Rover Series 1 1953. I have =
removed the rear shackle on both springs no problems. Now I am trying to =
get the bolt out of the front. It won't come out are they threaded or do =
I need a big hammer?

Regards

Alex
