Not quite correct,  the Lucas M418G Starter has a different drive end
bracket and pinion between the 1948 - 1954 motors and the 1955 - 1958
motors.

A 1952 and a 1951 are in the same early type and swap directly. Alex's
starter is of the late post 1955 type and he needs the early type for his
1953.

Hi, i'm paul from argentina , you can use any starter
motor fron series 1 land rover , 48 - 58 , i'have a
1952 2.0 engine but de starter motor is from a 1951
1.6 engine is the same model.Good luck
