Don't forget to fill the rear axle with oil before towing. I once destroyed
a brand new Salisbury  axle (on a ex mil 109) that way. It was a "long term
project"like Yours, it had to be moved (on a tow bar) after sitting for
several years and i had simply forgotten the axle casing was empty. I
noticed my mistake when the rear wheels suddenly locked up and smoke poured
out of the wheel wells. The pinion bearings had practically melted.

Tomorrow I will have help, and I hope the rest will go smoothly and we
will be able to tow the L-R the 180 m/300 km from A to B without too
many problems.
