[Again, my first posting failed to appear. Sending again]
Bill Murray asked: << Will you be selling your DVD by mail order?>>
I most certainly will, Bill - although it's a great honour to be doing
it, it HAS cost me nearly UKP2000 so far, not counting the professional
time I've spent. So yes, it will most certainly be available mail
order, and this list will be the first to know. But not only have I got
to get the thing edited (!), but I've also got to sort out PayPal, web
pages, and a little problem regarding NTSC!! But I've just downloaded a
program that claims to convert PAL files to NTSC, so I'll be trying that
out later today.
If people will accept that I have a professional and financial interest
in what I'm going to say next, I'm just a little leery of everyone's
enthusiasm for mailing copies of Sunday's BBC4 programme to each other.
Maybe that's OK (although strictly speaking you're infringing both BB's
and the BBC's copyright in doing it), but the suggestion that it be
streamed on someone's website is a definite no-no. Imagine if the
Chinese produced a carbon-copy Defender and tried to market it without
getting Solihull's permission, or paying them any money for the rip-off
- we'd all be a tad annoyed.
Of course, the BBC4 programme ISN'T going to be the same as my DVD -
there will be some things that they'll do better because they have the
resources. but I hope mine will be better in other ways because I have
an enthusiast's approach (they are for a general audience). So there's
room for both of us. but (selfishly) I'd hate the world to be saturated
with copies of the Beeb's efforts, when I'm trying in a couple of months
to re-coup my 2-grand. Play fair, guys!
BTW, Sunday night's programme is preceded by a review of the history of
Rover - might be some more L-R interest in that too.
