Hi Paul,

here is a photo  of a Series 1 Land Rover with the Rover P60 car engine 
installed. If yours looks like this, then you have the incorrect engine in 
your Land Rover.

As others have said, the cylinder head and the pushrods are different - it 
is possible that when they converted your Land Rover they kept the block and 
only swapped the head.

The distributor is also different.

Performance wise the SU carb gives slighly more HP. I have been told that 
the SU carb does not do well on steep inclines.
